Bali Haven: American Woman Finds Tranquility in Retirement
After being laid off in 2018, Debbie Welsch sought a change. Struggling with financial anxiety, she underwent hypnotherapy and decided to leave the US for a fresh start.
Bali, with its peaceful pace and welcoming culture, drew her in. After visiting a friend there, Welsch returned permanently and found a one-bedroom villa in Seminyak. She renovated the villa, adding new flooring and a bathroom.
In 2023, Welsch’s mother, Linda, joined her in Bali due to financial reasons. They live across the street from each other, spending time together and supporting each other.
Welsch’s simple life on Bali allows her to focus on the present rather than financial worries. She has shed the pressure to keep up appearances and enjoys a fulfilling life in her adopted island home.
However, Welsch misses certain aspects of her life in Los Angeles, such as close friends and family. While her mother yearns to return to the US, Welsch is content with her choice. She has found a sense of peace and tranquility in Bali that she never had before.
