New Orleans Truck Attack: No Additional Suspects

The FBI has concluded that there are no other suspects involved in the New Year’s truck attack on Bourbon Street.

Suspect’s Actions

Surveillance footage reveals that the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, placed explosive devices in the area and later changed clothes. He acted alone in executing the attack.

Investigation Ongoing

The FBI is investigating Jabbar’s contacts prior to the attack but has found no evidence of assistance. The investigation includes examining laptops and phones belonging to Jabbar.

Premeditated Terrorist Act

The FBI has classified the attack as a premeditated “act of terrorism.” Jabbar expressed support for ISIS in videos posted online before the incident.

Casualties and Damage

The death toll remains at 14, with 16 people still hospitalized. Jabbar’s truck killed dozens of pedestrians and injured two police officers. The damaged truck had an ISIS flag in its bed.

Security Measures

Security bollards were not operational at the time of the attack due to replacement preparations for the Super Bowl. Surveillance footage captured Jabbar placing two improvised explosive devices in coolers.

Call for Witnesses

The FBI encourages anyone who knew Jabbar or witnessed the attack to come forward. Bourbon Street has been reopened to the public, and the Sugar Bowl game has been rescheduled.

No Connection to Las Vegas Incident

The FBI has found no connection between the New Orleans attack and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas, which is also being investigated as a potential act of terror.
