Man pleads guilty in girlfriend dismemberment case

A Minnesota man has admitted to killing two women he was romantically involved with. Joseph Jorgenson pleaded guilty to murdering Manijeh “Mani” Starren and Fanta Xayavong.

Starren was killed in April 2023 after she asked Jorgenson to leave her apartment. He strangled her and dismembered her body with a razor blade. He then stored her remains in a Woodbury storage facility.

Xayavong was killed two years earlier during a physical altercation. Jorgenson cut up her body and hid her remains in a Coon Rapids storage facility.

Jorgenson pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree intentional murder. He faces a total of 40 years in prison. Starren’s mother expressed grief and sympathy for Jorgenson’s family.
