New Orleans Terrorist Attack: Driver Set Fire to Property

The FBI and ATF have revealed that the driver responsible for the deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day attempted to destroy evidence of his crime.

Before the attack, Shamsud-Din Jabbar set a small fire in the hallway of his Airbnb rental. He also placed accelerants throughout the house to burn it down and destroy any traces of his bomb-making activities.

However, the fire burned out before spreading further, allowing the FBI to recover evidence from the property. This included materials for making bombs and a suspected silencer for a rifle.

Jabbar also placed two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along Bourbon Street but failed to detonate them before he was killed. Authorities believe he intended to use a transmitter found in his truck to detonate the devices remotely.

All evidence recovery at Bourbon Street and Jabbar’s Airbnb rental has been completed, and investigations continue.
