Boxing Promoter Don King Sued for Fraud

Boxing promoter Don King is facing a lawsuit alleging fraud in connection with a failed attempt to resurrect the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” fight.

BYD Sports and CEO Cecil Miller filed the suit, claiming King encouraged them to pursue a 50th anniversary rematch in Africa but later backed out.

Miller alleges King disavowed him before the event could be finalized, despite the fact that BYD had already initiated plans for the event in Nigeria.

The lawsuit seeks $3 billion in damages for fraud, defamation, and breach of contract, among other allegations.

King has not yet responded to requests for comment. Court documents include a cease-and-desist letter from King accusing Miller of misrepresenting his involvement.

Miller’s lawyer, Anthony J.M. Jones, called King’s actions “sabotage” and said the failed event would have been a historic opportunity to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original fight.
