Wildfires Ravage Pacific Palisades
Devastating wildfires are raging through the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. Among those affected are celebrities such as Mark Hamill, who lost his home in the blaze.
The area is home to some of the country’s most expensive real estate, with average house prices reaching $4.5 million. The fire has spread rapidly, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions.
Celebrities who reside in the neighborhood include Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, and Adam Sandler. Many have expressed their concerns on social media, with Jamie Lee Curtis fearing for her West LA home and James Woods unsure about the fate of his Palisades residence.
Diane Warren, a renowned songwriter, shared that her beach house of nearly 30 years may have been destroyed. Kate Beckinsale also shared her grief, as her daughter spent much of her childhood in the now-destroyed neighborhood.
The Palisades Charter High School, known for its use in films and television shows, was also burned down. The fire season in California has been growing more severe and prolonged in recent years, largely driven by the climate crisis.
