Secret Border Tunnel Discovered

Authorities in Mexico have uncovered a secret tunnel connecting Ciudad Juarez to El Paso, Texas. The sophisticated tunnel, which spans approximately 1,000 feet on the Mexican side, features lighting, ventilation, and reinforced walls to prevent collapse.

The tunnel was found hidden within a storm sewer system, and its entrance is large enough for people or contraband to pass through easily. Former Border Patrol Chief Victor Manjarrez believes this tunnel is part of a larger smuggling operation.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are investigating the tunnel’s construction, which is believed to have taken a significant amount of time. The Mexican Attorney General’s Office is leading the investigation and will determine if any authorities were complicit in its construction.

Human Trafficking Clues

General Jose Lemus, commander of Ciudad Juarez’s military garrison, revealed that human traffickers had discussed the tunnel’s existence on social media platforms. This suggests that the tunnel may have been used for illegal activities.

Increased Security

The discovery of the tunnel has led to increased security measures on both sides of the border ahead of President Trump’s inauguration. Authorities in Chihuahua reported a fire at a migrant camp, forcing the evacuation of several individuals.
