- Spirit Airlines no longer allowing passengers with inappropriate clothing or tattoos to fly (foxbusiness.com)
Local airline Spirit Airlines has tightened its dress code policy. Passengers can now be denied boarding or even removed from flights due to inappropriate clothing or offensive tattoos.
The new policy, effective Wednesday, specifically prohibits see-through clothing that exposes private areas. It also bans passengers from being barefoot.
While a no-shoes policy isn’t unusual for airlines, the inclusion of offensive tattoos as grounds for removal is less common.
This policy change follows several incidents involving Spirit passengers and their attire. Two women were reportedly removed from a flight last October for wearing crop tops.
Just last week, a Texas man was escorted off a plane for wearing a hoodie deemed offensive. Even after removing the garment, he was still asked to leave the flight.
