A rare snowstorm in the Florida panhandle brought an unexpected flurry of fun to a group of inmates. They turned their prison yard into a winter wonderland, engaging in a full-blown snowball fight.

Inmates were seen pelting each other with snowballs, even bringing the snowy battle indoors. They ducked and dodged behind furniture, playfully targeting each other with the icy projectiles.

While a few slips and falls occurred, the inmates appeared to be having a blast, enjoying the unusual cold snap.

Outside, another group of prisoners wrestled in the snow, adding to the wintry recreation. The snowball fight provided a welcome distraction from the usual prison routine, likely a relief for correctional officers as well.

Last week’s winter storm brought record snowfall to parts of the Gulf Coast, impacting travel and daily life. One Florida town even saw nearly 10 inches of snow, a historic event for the region. This unusual weather may have southerners rethinking their holiday song choices in the future.
