TV Couple Safe After DC Plane Crash Scare

Local couple Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple have confirmed their safety following Wednesday’s plane crash in the Potomac River. Both took to social media to express their relief and offer condolences to the victims and their families.

Vassos, a Maryland resident, and Chapple, who lives in Wichita, Kansas, where the flight originated, shared their heartbreak over the tragedy. They offered prayers and support for the city of Wichita.

The American Airlines flight carried 60 passengers and four crew members. Among those on board were members of the U.S. Figure Skating team returning from a national development camp held in Wichita.

The Skating Club of Boston reported that six of its members, including skaters, coaches, and parents, were believed to be on the flight. The club expressed its devastation at the loss, describing the skating community as a close-knit family. The victims were returning from a training camp for young competitive skaters.
