- Pete Hegseth confirms ‘worst of the worst’ criminal migrants will be sent to Guantanamo Bay (foxnews.com)
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that Guantanamo Bay will temporarily house the “worst of the worst” criminal migrants. He made the announcement during an interview on “Fox and Friends.” Hegseth added that “all options are on the table” for military action against cartels.
This follows President Trump’s earlier announcement that he would direct the Pentagon to prepare Guantanamo to hold 30,000 “criminal illegal aliens.” Trump said he would sign an executive order, but it was later clarified that he signed a presidential memorandum.
Hegseth explained that Guantanamo is a suitable transit point to hold these individuals until they are returned to their home countries. He emphasized that those countries need to be ready to receive them.
When questioned about potential military action against cartels, Hegseth declined to speak for the president. However, he affirmed that all options are being considered when dealing with organizations designated as foreign terrorist groups.
The Department of Homeland Security recently reported the removal and return of 7,300 illegal aliens.
