Troubled talk show host Wendy Williams has been granted a brief reprieve from her court-ordered confinement. A judge has allowed her to travel to Miami to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday.
Sources close to the situation say Williams will be accompanied by private security on the two-day trip from New York City to Florida. She will then return to her supervised living arrangement.
Williams is currently residing in a studio apartment within an assisted living facility. She has described her situation as a “luxury prison” in a new documentary, claiming she has limited access to fresh air, visitors, and even phone calls. She also says she has no internet access.
The documentary, “Saving Wendy,” raises questions about the guardianship that severely restricts Williams’ freedom.
A judge has also reportedly barred Williams from any further contact with the media.
