The Army has released the name of the third soldier killed in Wednesday night’s helicopter crash over the Potomac River. Capt.

Rebecca M. Lobach, of Durham, North Carolina, was a six-year veteran assigned to the 12th Aviation Battalion at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Capt. Lobach was the final member of the helicopter crew to be identified.

Her family initially requested privacy. Two other soldiers, Staff Sgt.

Ryan Austin O’Hara and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Lloyd Eaves, also perished in the mid-air collision with a regional jetliner.

In a statement, Lobach’s family described her as a daughter, sister, partner, and friend, emphasizing her dedication to service and caregiving. They highlighted her impact on those who knew her, despite her short life. The family expressed their condolences to the other families affected by the tragedy.

Although Capt. Lobach had not been deployed overseas, she had received several commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.

Her family shared that she served as a White House military social aide, assisting the president and first lady with numerous events. She also volunteered as a certified Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) victim advocate.

Capt. Lobach’s family stated she aspired to become a physician after her military service.

They quoted her saying, “My experiences with SHARP have reinforced my resolve to serve others with compassion, understanding, and the resources necessary for healing.” They reiterated their sorrow for all the families who lost loved ones in the crash.
