James Denies Rumors After Big Trade

Overnight, the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers shocked the basketball world, trading superstars Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis. This unprecedented move marks the first time two current All-NBA players have been traded mid-season.

Many questions remain, particularly regarding Dallas’s decision to trade their 25-year-old MVP candidate. Dončić, a global icon fresh off a Finals appearance, seemed untouchable.

One report suggested LeBron James’ frustration with Davis prompted the trade, despite Davis averaging over 25 points and 12 rebounds per game, along with stellar defense.

James, however, quickly refuted this report on social media, calling it a “lie.” He added Pinocchio and clown emojis to emphasize his point.

James reportedly learned of the trade shortly after a Lakers victory, while dining with his family. Sources say the Mavericks initiated the trade, insisting on acquiring Davis in exchange for Dončić. The deal appears to have been conducted in complete secrecy.

The Lakers received Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. The Mavericks received Davis, Max Christie, and Los Angeles’ 2029 first-round pick. The Utah Jazz also participated, acquiring Jalen Hood-Schifino and two second-round picks.

Dončić, who led the league in scoring last season with 33.4 points per game, is considered a perennial MVP candidate. His career averages stand at 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists.
