Kenosha, WI – Tragedy struck a quiet Kenosha neighborhood Monday when a 52-year-old man and his dog were found stabbed to death in their basement.
Police first visited the home in the 8500 block of 18th Avenue around 11:42 a.m. after the homeowner reported a possible break-in. Officers found a broken back door but no one inside. They took a report and collected evidence.
Just a few hours later, at approximately 2:32 p.m., police returned to the same address. A caller reported seeing blood near the open back door.
Inside, officers discovered the homeowner and his dog, both with apparent stab wounds. The dog died shortly after officers arrived.
The Kenosha Police Department’s SWAT team cleared the house to ensure no further threats. Detectives quickly identified a 41-year-old Kenosha man as a person of interest.
Approximately four hours later, the suspect was apprehended while walking in an alley near 50th Street and 22nd Avenue.
The victim’s name is being withheld out of respect for his family. Police believe there are no other suspects and are continuing to investigate the scene. They offered condolences to the victim’s family.
