Greencastle, Pennsylvania – State police are investigating the theft of 100,000 organic eggs, valued at approximately $40,000. The eggs were stolen from a distribution trailer parked outside Pete & Gerry’s Organics on Saturday evening.
The theft occurred around 8:40 p.m. while the trailer was parked outside the Greencastle facility, located about 65 miles southwest of Harrisburg. Troopers from the Chambersburg barracks responded to the scene.
Authorities have not released any details about how the thieves managed to steal such a large quantity of eggs unnoticed. They have also not indicated whether they have any leads in the case.
Pete & Gerry’s Organics, a company that transitioned to organic farming in 1997, works with a network of over 200 family-owned farms. The company prides itself on its high standards for farming practices and animal care.
