Buenos Aires, Argentina – A local canal has turned a shocking blood-red, alarming residents and sparking speculation. The Sarandi Canal, on the outskirts of the city, is known to change colors, but this dramatic shift has many locals unnerved.

“It looked like a river of blood,” Maria Ducomls told the Associated Press. “We’ve never seen it like this.”

Another resident recalled previous instances where the canal turned yellow, accompanied by a foul odor that made her family ill. She described her husband alerting her to the crimson water.

The red tide has now flowed downstream towards the Rio de la Plata river.

Preliminary reports from the Argentinian Environment Ministry suggest an organic dye spill is responsible. Officials took samples at the scene.

A government source, speaking to La Nacion newspaper, believes the dye likely originated from a nearby factory or warehouse. Inspections are underway.

The source emphasized the need for expert assessments to determine appropriate action. This incident follows a reported 30% increase in toxic spills in the city over the past two years.

Some residents have linked the red water to biblical prophecies about the end of times.
