Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts recently opened up about her unique living arrangement with her wife, Amber Laign. The couple, who married in 2023 after a long courtship, often live apart during the week.
Roberts explained on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show that their separate residences are due to her early morning schedule at GMA. The arrangement works for them, she said, but acknowledged it isn’t for everyone. Roberts emphasized the importance of trust and love in making their situation work.
Living apart, even for just part of the week, allows them to maintain their individual identities and appreciate their time together even more, Roberts shared. She joked that it’s “kind of nice” to have some space, a sentiment she said her wife shares.
Roberts, a self-proclaimed sports enthusiast, and Laign, who prefers other types of entertainment, also benefit from the arrangement when it comes to their viewing habits. They see it as a “trade-off.”
A recent anecdote highlighted the practical side of their living situation. Roberts excitedly cheered Madison Keys’ victory at the Australian Open women’s final, a match that took place in the wee hours of the morning.
Laign, however, slept soundly through the entire commotion, proving to be a heavy sleeper much to Roberts’ amusement. Roberts had previously joked on GMA that her enthusiastic cheering might have disturbed her neighbors.
