A pastry wholesaler, FGF Brands, has recalled approximately 2 million baked goods due to potential listeria contamination. The recall affects around 60 products, including doughnuts, cinnamon sticks, and fritters.
Some of these items were also sold at Dunkin’. The affected products were produced before December 13, 2024.
Originally announced on January 7th, the recall has been elevated to a Class II classification. This designation indicates a risk of temporary or reversible health issues, with a low probability of serious consequences.
Consumers with questions are advised to contact FGF Brands directly. The FDA has not yet provided further instructions.
Listeria, a serious foodborne bacterial illness, can be life-threatening, particularly for vulnerable populations like the elderly, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. Symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal issues. Pregnant women are at risk for miscarriage, stillbirth, or premature delivery.
Anyone in a high-risk group experiencing flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming potentially contaminated food should seek immediate medical attention.
