Sheriff Shoots Gunman Outside Family Fun Center

Highlands Ranch, CO – A late-night shooting at a local family entertainment center left one man dead and a woman injured. The incident unfolded just before midnight Saturday at the Main Event in Highlands Ranch.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responding to an “active shooter” call confronted an armed man in the parking lot. The man reportedly refused to drop his weapon and turned towards the deputy, who then shot him. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.

Inside the Main Event, deputies discovered a woman with gunshot wounds to her chest and foot. She was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Another woman was taken into custody in connection with the indoor shooting.

Sheriff Darren Weekly addressed reporters at the scene, stating that multiple shots were fired inside the crowded venue. He indicated that investigators believe the man killed outside was connected to the shooting inside. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are interviewing numerous witnesses.
