Pilates Class Sends Woman to Hospital

A local woman is warning others after a high-intensity pilates class landed her in the emergency room. 24-year-old Lola Fernandez shared her experience on TikTok, including a video taken from the back of an ambulance.

Fernandez, from Los Angeles, said she initially felt unwell and vomited the morning of the class. Feeling better later in the day, she decided to attend the 55-minute HIIT pilates session, unaware of its intensity.

Immediately after the class, Fernandez began vomiting and continued for about 20 minutes. She then began to feel faint and asked studio staff to call an ambulance.

Fernandez recounted passing out four times before reaching the hospital, where she received fluids and medication. She spent six hours under observation. Doctors attributed the incident to the combination of intense exercise and her earlier illness.

Now fully recovered, Fernandez urges others to research fitness classes beforehand and ensure proper hydration and nutrition. She emphasized the importance of listening to your body and sticking to workouts that feel right for you. She even suggests eating a piece of fruit before exercising, even if you don’t feel hungry.
