Lay’s Potato Chip Recall Elevated to Highest Risk Level
A recall of Lay’s classic potato chips, initially announced in December, has been upgraded to the highest risk level by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recall affects 13-ounce bags sold in Washington and Oregon.
The chips contain undeclared milk, posing a serious threat to those with milk allergies or sensitivities. The FDA has designated this a “Class I” recall, indicating a risk of serious health consequences or death.
The affected bags have a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025, printed on the front. The UPC is 28400 31041. The manufacturing codes are 6462307xx or 6463307xx.
Approximately 6,000 bags are subject to the recall. Though believed to be removed from stores, consumers are urged to check their pantries.
While no allergic reactions have been reported, anyone with a milk allergy or sensitivity should not consume these chips. Consumers can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations with questions or to report recalled chips.
