Longtime “General Hospital” star Leslie Charleson passed away in January at age 79. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has now released her cause of death.
Charleson died from the long-term effects of a head injury. The medical examiner listed asthma, arthritis, atrial fibrillation, and a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain as contributing factors.
It’s unclear when or how Charleson sustained the initial head injury. Reports indicate she had suffered several falls prior to being hospitalized.
“General Hospital” executive producer Frank Valentini shared a heartfelt tribute shortly after her passing. He called Charleson a beloved member of the cast and crew for nearly 50 years.
He said he would miss her daily chats, wit, and presence on set. He offered his condolences to her loved ones.
