Garner, N.C. – Amazon workers at a local warehouse have voted against unionizing, delivering another victory to the retail giant in its ongoing battle against organized labor.
Roughly 4,300 employees at the Garner facility, located near Raleigh, were eligible to vote. The final tally showed a decisive outcome, with almost three times as many workers voting against the union compared to those in favor.
The grassroots union, Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment (CAUSE), sought higher wages, improved safety measures, and more predictable work schedules.
Amazon countered with a strong anti-union campaign, arguing its employees already receive competitive pay and benefits without union involvement.
An Amazon spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the vote, stating the company is pleased with the outcome and looks forward to maintaining a direct relationship with its employees.
This vote comes amid ongoing unionization efforts at other Amazon facilities across the country. These efforts have faced significant legal challenges and pushback from the company.
A Whole Foods store in Philadelphia voted to unionize, but Amazon is contesting the result. The company also continues to challenge the unionization of its Staten Island warehouse and is appealing a ruling for a re-vote at an Alabama facility.
