Longtime “Price is Right” host Drew Carey quietly championed a model’s transition from game show star to Hollywood actress. Gwendolyn Osborne, a familiar face on the show, landed a role in the blockbuster film “Wonder Woman 1984.” She portrayed one of the Amazonian women who helped raise Diana, the titular Wonder Woman.
Before joining the DC universe, Osborne spent over a decade showcasing prizes alongside Bob Barker and later, Drew Carey. She presented countless cars and cash to lucky contestants.
Osborne credits Carey with fostering a supportive environment, particularly for women. After the birth of her son, Malloy, in 2008, Carey ensured she could continue working. She even appeared with her son on a Mother’s Day episode.
Osborne praised Carey for setting a new standard for female empowerment on the show. She believes he made it possible for her to return to work after having her child, paving the way for other mothers on the show.
She revealed that Carey’s support made her the first model on “The Price is Right” to appear on air pregnant, setting a precedent for future models. She expressed gratitude for Carey’s support, which allowed her to balance motherhood and her career.
Osborne described her time on the show as joyful, referring to her colleagues as family. She fondly recalled the behind-the-scenes fun, although she admitted there were occasional dramatic moments and disagreements.
After 12 seasons, Osborne left “The Price is Right” in 2017.
