Additional Coverage:

“Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th anniversary with a star-studded special, filled with live performances, classic sketches, and timely jokes. The show, which first aired in 1975, welcomed back numerous former cast members, including Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler, and Eddie Murphy.

One highlight was Ryan Reynolds’ veiled reference to his supposed legal drama with Justin Baldoni. During a Q&A segment with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Reynolds quipped, “Great!

Why, what have you heard?” His wife, Blake Lively, feigned surprise beside him.

Aubrey Plaza, a former “SNL” host, paid tribute to her late husband, Jeff Baena, with her wardrobe. She wore a tie-dye shirt under her blazer, a nod to the tie-dye outfits they wore at their wedding.

A potentially awkward moment arose when Kim Kardashian seemingly ignored her ex-boyfriend, Pete Davidson. A video clip showed Kardashian walking past Davidson as he chatted with other guests.

Jack Nicholson made a rare on-screen appearance, his first in ten years, to introduce Adam Sandler. Sandler serenaded the audience with a song about “SNL.”

Noticeably absent was Bill Hader, a fan favorite. A representative for Hader cited a scheduling conflict. Despite his absence, Hader appeared in a pre-taped Volkswagen commercial featuring a revival of the “Californians” sketch.
