Memphis Woman Banned from Walmart Nationwide After Self-Checkout Scam
A Memphis woman faces a nationwide ban from Walmart after allegedly attempting to steal groceries using a self-checkout scam. Police arrested the 37-year-old earlier this week at a South Memphis Walmart.
The woman reportedly used a barcode from a $1 battery to scan more expensive items, including ramen noodles, clothing, and boots. The total value of the attempted theft was over $130.
Another woman allegedly involved in the scam stole a backpack and other items worth nearly $60. She received a citation for theft.
The 37-year-old is now on Walmart’s “Authorization of Agency” list, barring her from all Walmart locations in the U.S. due to previous shoplifting incidents. This list grants law enforcement the authority to arrest her if she’s found on Walmart property.
This isn’t the woman’s first brush with the law. Court records reveal a history of shoplifting offenses, including incidents at a Circle K, Nordstrom Rack, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and CVS. These incidents date back to 2019.
