Kids Found Living in Filth After Mom Vanishes

Pontiac, Michigan – A local mother is facing arrest after allegedly abandoning her three children for years, leaving them in a house filled with filth and neglect.

The 34-year-old woman’s children, a 15-year-old son and two daughters aged 12 and 13, were discovered living in squalor in a Pontiac home last Friday. Police were conducting a welfare check after the landlord reported not hearing from the mother since December and not receiving rent since October.

The children told officers their mother abandoned them in 2020 or 2021. The home was reportedly filled with garbage, mold, and human waste.

Authorities described the conditions as “deplorable,” stating the children were unfamiliar with basic hygiene practices. They hadn’t attended school since being abandoned and were surviving on food deliveries left on the porch. The girls hadn’t been outside in years.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed outrage at the children’s living conditions. He emphasized the long-term impact of this neglect.

The mother was located and arrested. The children’s father was reportedly not involved in their lives.

The children are now in the care of a relative, and the mother is being held at Oakland County Jail. Sheriff Bouchard stated his commitment to pursuing justice in this case.
