- I booked a sleep pod in Dubai’s airport for $123. I don’t fully regret it, but I’d spend my layover differently next time. (businessinsider.com)
During a recent trip to the Maldives, I had a seven-hour layover in Dubai. Worried about exhaustion during the long journey, I decided to try a sleep pod at the airport.
I booked a pod online for $123 for five hours. It was conveniently located near my arrival and departure gates. Check-in was quick and easy.
My initial impression of the pod was that it was small. I was concerned about being able to stretch out comfortably. However, the reclined bed allowed me to fully extend my legs.
The pod wasn’t as comfortable as a real bed, but it was much better than trying to sleep in an airport chair. I appreciated the storage space for my belongings and the quiet environment. I managed about two and a half hours of sleep.
While the pod served its purpose, next time I’d choose a different approach. My layover felt short, and I would have preferred a full night’s sleep.
For a slightly higher cost, I could have stayed at a nearby hotel with amenities like a pool, airport shuttle, and breakfast. This would have allowed me to arrive at my destination feeling much more rested.
