The James Bond franchise is entering a new era under Amazon MGM’s creative control. A new actor will soon take over the iconic role following Daniel Craig’s final appearance in “No Time To Die.”
Over 25 films, seven actors have portrayed the legendary spy. Craig brought a darker, grittier tone to the character before his Bond met his demise in 2021. Fans eagerly await the next 007.
Here’s a look back at the actors who have embodied Bond:
David Niven played a comedic Bond in a 1967 parody of “Casino Royale.” This version is separate from the main franchise.
George Lazenby briefly stepped into Bond’s shoes for 1969’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” filling in for Sean Connery.
Pierce Brosnan’s era, though spanning four films, moved Bond in a more Hollywood direction, straying from the character’s cooler origins.
Roger Moore holds the record for most Bond appearances, starring in seven films. Known for over-the-top action, his Bond was entertaining but lacked depth.
Timothy Dalton’s portrayal in “The Living Daylights” and “Licence to Kill” is considered a serious and faithful adaptation of Ian Fleming’s novels. Legal issues unfortunately cut his run short.
Sean Connery, the original 007, defined the role for generations. His charismatic performance established Bond as a cinematic icon.
Daniel Craig revitalized the franchise with his darker, more physical Bond. His films achieved record-breaking box office success, cementing his place as a key figure in Bond history.
