GH Cast and Friends Gather to Celebrate Leslie Charleson’s Life

Beloved General Hospital actress Leslie Charleson, the longest-running cast member in the show’s history, was recently honored by her costars and friends in a heartwarming celebration of life on what would have been her 80th birthday. The gathering, attended by a mix of her equestrian companions and fellow actors, featured touching tributes and shared memories of the iconic actress who passed away earlier this year.

Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) and Ian Buchanan (Duke Lavery) offered glimpses into the event, sharing photos that included a touching image of Charleson. Wally Kurth (Ned Quartermaine) played a significant role in the celebration, later sharing intimate details with Soap Opera Digest. He revealed that he not only led the event but also performed a song handpicked by Charleson herself, showcasing her eclectic musical taste, which even included an appreciation for the singer Jelly Roll.

Among those present were several General Hospital luminaries, both past and present. Steve Burton (Jason Quartermaine/Jason Morgan) offered a prayer, a testament to his close relationship with Charleson built over decades of working together.

Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) shared anecdotes of their on-screen rivalry as the battling sisters-in-law, recalling their memorable scenes, especially those revolving around the infamous “Monica’s house” storyline. Christopher Damon, son of the late Stuart Damon (Alan Quartermaine), also attended, along with other familiar faces such as Tamara Braun (ex-Carly Corinthos/Kim Nero), Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin), Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe).

The question remains whether General Hospital will air a memorial episode for Charleson’s character, Monica Quartermaine. Given the show’s history of honoring departed cast members and the close relationship between Charleson and Executive Producer Frank Valentini, a tribute seems highly likely.

While the timing remains uncertain, many speculate that the May sweeps period would be a fitting occasion. The Quartermaine family, and indeed the entire General Hospital community, will undoubtedly feel the absence of Monica, a character who has been a central figure for so many years.
