Pop Star Katy Perry Faces Backlash in Montecito Home Dispute
Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom are facing public criticism following a legal battle over a Montecito, California home purchased from an elderly veteran, Carl Westcott.
The couple bought the eight-bedroom estate, complete with guest houses and a tennis court, in 2020. Westcott later attempted to rescind the sale, claiming he was mentally incapacitated at the time of the transaction. A judge ultimately ruled in Perry and Bloom’s favor.
However, the case has drawn renewed attention and public ire after Westcott’s son, Chart Westcott, spoke out against the celebrity couple. He accused them of lacking empathy and “treating ordinary people like dirt,” alleging their behavior throughout the legal proceedings was “unforgivable” and driven by “greed.” He further claimed their actions became “harsher” as his father’s condition worsened.
News of the dispute has sparked outrage among some of Perry’s fans online. Many expressed disbelief and disappointment in the singer’s actions, questioning the couple’s need to pursue legal action against an elderly veteran, particularly given their substantial combined wealth. Some commenters called Perry “sick,” “terrible,” and “despicable.”
