Jon Stewart has fired back at Elon Musk’s “propagandist” jab, extending an open invitation for the tech mogul to appear on “The Daily Show.” The comedian’s offer comes after a recent episode where Stewart, while nursing a hand injury sustained during a segment critiquing Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), offered to host Musk for an unedited interview.
Musk initially expressed interest via his social media platform X, stipulating that the interview air unedited. He later backtracked, accusing Stewart of being “much more a propagandist than it would seem.”
Stewart addressed Musk’s comments on Monday’s “The Daily Show,” pointing out that his in-studio interviews are typically unedited anyway. He humorously offered Musk a time slot anywhere between 15 minutes and two hours, quipping that the network had ample airtime available until the next season of “South Park” in 2026.
However, Stewart didn’t shy away from addressing Musk’s “propagandist” accusation. He highlighted Musk’s support for Donald Trump and other right-wing figures, questioning Musk’s understanding of bipartisanship.
While critical of DOGE, Stewart reiterated his support for government efficiency and invited Musk to discuss the topic on the show. He challenged Musk to drop the “pretense” that Stewart’s supposed partisanship was the reason for declining the interview, calling the excuse “bulls—.” Stewart concluded by emphasizing his willingness to host Musk, regardless of whether the tech billionaire accepts the offer.
