Selleck’s Next Role After *Blue Bloods*

Additional Coverage:

Following the cancellation of Blue Bloods after 14 seasons, star Tom Selleck has opened up about his disappointment and discussed his next project. Selleck, who portrayed NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, expressed frustration to TV Insider, stating the long-running series was “taken for granted” due to its consistent success. He added that it will “take a long time” to process the cancellation.

Despite the setback, Selleck is already moving on to his next role. The 80-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Jesse Stone in a new, currently untitled project.

This will be the tenth installment in the popular made-for-TV movie series based on Robert B. Parker’s novels.

While details are scarce and a release date is yet to be determined, the film is currently in development and expected to premiere no earlier than late 2025.

Meanwhile, Selleck’s former co-star Donnie Wahlberg, who played Detective Danny Reagan, will also return to the world of law enforcement in Boston Blue, a spin-off of the original series. The new show will follow Danny as he relocates to Boston and partners with a detective from a well-known local law enforcement family.

The series will explore both his professional challenges and personal adjustments to life away from his family in New York City. Boston Blue is slated to premiere during the 2025-2026 television season.
