Wendy Williams Hospitalized Amid Guardianship Questions

Troubled talk show host Wendy Williams is currently undergoing evaluation at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, according to reports. A caretaker reportedly ordered the hospitalization to assess Williams’ cognitive function, the results of which could impact her ongoing guardianship.

Williams has been largely out of the public eye for the past year, residing in the memory ward of an assisted living facility. She has previously claimed she is being held against her will, needing permission to leave the facility.

Her guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, stated last year that Williams has become “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated.” These claims have prompted investigations by both the NYPD and Adult Protective Services.

Williams was placed under guardianship in 2022 after the conclusion of “The Wendy Williams Show.” Her bank alleged at the time that she was a “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.”

The former television personality is known to be struggling with Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcoholism. While her team announced a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2024, Williams has denied these claims.

Morrisey, Williams’ court-appointed guardian, oversees her well-being and finances. Several family members, including Williams’ son, sister, and niece, unsuccessfully attempted to assume the guardianship. Williams has previously attributed the need for a conservatorship to her son’s spending habits, an allegation he denies.

This latest development comes shortly after the release of the TMZ documentary “TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy Williams” and ahead of a reported upcoming appearance on “The View.”
