Comedian Katherine Ryan Critiques Meghan Markle’s “Hollywood” Persona and Shifting Narratives
Meghan Markle’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, continues to generate controversy, with comedian Katherine Ryan becoming the latest voice to question the Duchess of Sussex’s portrayal of her past.
Ryan, speaking on her podcast Telling Everybody Everything, expressed her evolving perspective on Markle. While previously a supporter, Ryan now finds Markle’s public image overly “Hollywood” and “manicured.” She points to apparent inconsistencies in Markle’s narratives about her upbringing, citing conflicting accounts of childhood meals – ranging from TV dinners mentioned in the Netflix series to previous claims of “farm fresh” food.
Ryan also questions Markle’s claims about her prior awareness of Prince Harry’s identity. While acknowledging she doesn’t believe Markle is a “bad person,” Ryan suggests the Duchess enjoys the celebrity lifestyle and the lucrative opportunities that come with her royal connection. She expressed a preference for a more authentic approach from Markle, embracing her transition from actress to royalty, rather than projecting an image of humbleness.
