Pope Francis Continues Steady Recovery One Month After Hospitalization

Vatican City – Pope Francis remains in stable condition, showing continued progress one month after being admitted to Gemelli hospital for bronchitis and pneumonia. A Vatican press office bulletin released Saturday confirmed the positive trend observed over the past week. This encouraging news comes after a period of concern, with the Pope now considered out of danger.

While hospitalized, the pontiff has continued his duties, impressively signing off on a significant three-year Church reform project aimed at creating a more welcoming environment. He has also dedicated time to prayer and rest, crucial elements in his recovery.

Medical staff report that the Pope’s respiratory therapy is gradually reducing his need for ventilation support at night. Although still requiring ongoing medical care, including physiotherapy, he is exhibiting steady improvement.

This week marked the 12th anniversary of Pope Francis’s election to lead the Catholic Church. Celebrations were muted due to his hospitalization, but he reportedly received get-well wishes and even a cake.

The Pope’s recovery has been complicated by a childhood lung surgery following a pulmonary infection. However, recent X-rays confirm the infection is clearing.

The Vatican has indicated that future medical updates will be provided only when there is significant new information, with the next update expected mid-next week.

Despite his absence from public appearances, including the traditional Sunday blessings from St. Peter’s Square, the Pope has maintained a connection with the faithful.

Earlier this month, he released an audio message expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support. Meanwhile, Vatican nuns report receiving numerous calls from well-wishers concerned about the Pope’s health, reflecting the widespread affection and prayers for his swift recovery.
