Local Post Office Worker Hopes to Deliver a Golden Ticket Audition on American Idol

Temple, GA – Brajawn Upshaw, a 21-year-old postal worker, is trading stamps for a shot at stardom. This Sunday, he’ll audition for Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood on American Idol.

It was Brajawn’s mother, Tasha, who secretly signed him up for the competition. Inspired by a Luke Bryan documentary, Brajawn is ready to take a “big swing” at his dreams. He credits the documentary, which featured Bryan’s father encouraging him to pursue his musical aspirations, with giving him the courage to audition.

“I woke up one day after watching that documentary, and I was crying,” Brajawn shared. He realized he needed to try harder to achieve his goals. Bryan echoed this sentiment, telling Brajawn, “That’s what life’s about, taking the big swings.”

Brajawn, who has worked at the post office for three years, hopes a Golden Ticket to Hollywood will prove his mom right for believing in him. He’ll be performing “Lovely” by Billie Eilish and Khalid for the judges.

Will Brajawn deliver a winning performance? Find out this Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
