Meghan Markle Faces Podcast Name Controversy
Less than a month after facing online criticism for alleged similarities between her Netflix series and Pamela Anderson’s life, Meghan Markle finds herself in another online debate. This time, it’s over the name of her new podcast.
Following her departure from Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex has partnered with Lemonada Media for a new podcast venture. Her first project, “Confessions of a Female Founder with Meghan,” will feature discussions with businesswomen and friends about their entrepreneurial journeys.
However, it appears the podcast’s title isn’t entirely original. Kady Méite, a 24-year-old entrepreneur from Philadelphia and founder of clothing company Veil Street, already hosts a YouTube series with the same name. Méite’s “Confessions of a Female Founder” series offers inspirational business advice and personal anecdotes.
Despite the name overlap, Méite has responded graciously. She believes the Duchess likely wasn’t aware of her series and that the identical titles are coincidental.
Méite emphasized her appreciation of the support she’s received but expressed concern about the situation turning into another opportunity to criticize Markle. She stated that she doesn’t want to contribute to negativity directed towards another woman.
The news has, predictably, sparked online discussion. Some social media users have criticized the Duchess for the name choice, referencing previous naming controversies surrounding her lifestyle brand. Others have questioned the lack of due diligence in checking for existing podcasts with the same name.
