X-Men Stars Join Star-Studded Cast for Avengers: Doomsday
Get ready for an epic showdown! Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart are returning as Magneto and Professor Charles Xavier, respectively, in Marvel’s highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in May 2026.
The film, already generating buzz with the announcement of Robert Downey Jr. as the villainous Doctor Doom, promises a clash of titans. Sir Ian last donned Magneto’s helmet in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, while Sir Patrick’s Professor X was last seen in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
A video showcasing a line-up of chairs labeled with the cast’s names seemingly confirmed the impressive roster. Alongside the returning X-Men stars, the list includes Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Simu Liu, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, David Harbour, and Kelsey Grammer.
Newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot featuring Pedro Pascal and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, will also join the fray. Even Channing Tatum, who portrayed Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, is listed among the star-studded cast.
Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU after a five-year hiatus was revealed last summer. The actor, who first portrayed Iron Man in 2008 and last appeared in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, surprised fans at Comic-Con by appearing on stage in Doctor Doom’s iconic garb. He expressed his enthusiasm for complex characters, hinting at a compelling portrayal of the infamous villain.
