Frito-Lay Recalls Tostitos Chips Due to Undeclared Milk Allergen

Frito-Lay announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips due to the potential presence of an undeclared milk allergen. The affected chips may have been mistakenly filled with nacho cheese tortilla chips, which contain milk.

The recall affects bags with a UPC of 28400 52848 and a “guaranteed fresh” date of May 20, 2025. Specific manufacturing codes associated with the recalled product are available from Frito-Lay.

The chips, first sold on March 7th, were distributed to retailers in 13 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. While less than 1,300 bags are involved, consumers with milk allergies are urged to check their purchases.

No allergic reactions have been reported to date. No other Tostitos products are affected by this recall.

This recall follows a previous Frito-Lay recall in November 2024 involving Lay’s Classic Potato Chips potentially containing undeclared milk. That recall, initially affecting products in Oregon and Washington, was later elevated to a Class I recall by the FDA due to the risk of serious health consequences.

This latest recall comes amidst a wave of recent food recalls, including contaminated Coca-Cola products in Illinois and Wisconsin, Aldi brand cheese potentially containing metal fragments, and mislabeled Target brand cheesecake containing undeclared pecans.
