Federal Regulators Scrutinize Disney’s Diversity Practices

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an investigation into the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at The Walt Disney Company and its subsidiary, ABC. The FCC’s inquiry aims to determine whether these efforts violate equal employment opportunity regulations.

In a letter addressed to Disney CEO Bob Iger, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr expressed concerns about recent controversies surrounding Disney’s DEI policies. Carr, a Trump appointee, initiated a similar investigation into Comcast and NBCUniversal earlier this year.

A Disney spokesperson confirmed receipt of the FCC’s letter and stated the company’s intention to cooperate fully with the investigation.

This investigation follows a January executive order by former President Trump aimed at curbing DEI practices in U.S. corporations. The order mandates federal agencies to identify potential civil compliance investigations within publicly traded companies and other organizations.
