A-Rod Swaps Slugger Routine for CEO Zen

Former baseball superstar Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, now a successful investor and CEO, has traded his power-hitting regimen for a wellness-focused routine built for the long haul. No longer focused on hitting home runs, the 49-year-old prioritizes longevity and overall health.

In his athletic prime, Rodriguez played over 150 games a year, fueling his performance with intense workouts and a diet he described as “eating like a horse.” Now, his focus has shifted from intense weight training and sprints to a more balanced approach incorporating lighter lifts, cardio, and plenty of stretching. “Today it’s more finesse,” Rodriguez explained.

His daily routine starts with several hours dedicated to self-care, including a mix of cardio and strength training, along with yoga and meditation. After his workout, he focuses on podcasting before heading to the office around noon to manage his company, A-Rod Corp. He maintains a consistent schedule, aiming for eight hours of sleep each night to maximize focus and energy.

Rodriguez’s fitness transformation is evident in his workouts. While he still lifts weights, the emphasis is on lighter weights and consistent effort.

Cardio, such as 30 minutes on a stationary bike or stair stepper, is now a daily practice, supplemented by evening walks. He also prioritizes mobility and flexibility, incorporating assisted stretching to enhance his range of motion and joint strength.

Dietary changes also play a significant role in Rodriguez’s new lifestyle. While he admits a fondness for red meat, he’s consciously reducing his intake in favor of fish and chicken.

He also incorporates plenty of carbohydrates, such as sweet potatoes and brown rice, for sustained energy. Perhaps the most significant shift is his adoption of intermittent fasting.

His first meal is now typically around noon, a practice he initially adopted for weight loss but continues for its digestive and overall health benefits.
