Country music star Morgan Wallen made his return to Saturday Night Live this past weekend after a five-year hiatus. He appeared as the musical guest, performing two songs, “Just in Case” and “I’m the Problem,” from his upcoming album of the same name.
After the show, Wallen posted “Get me to God’s country” on his Instagram story, leading some to speculate about his quick departure from the SNL stage after host Mikey Madison thanked him. Sources close to the show revealed to Fox News Digital that Wallen’s exit was unintentional. His post-performance walk-off mirrored his entrances and exits during rehearsals and was simply a matter of following the established blocking.
Wallen’s appearance marks a significant moment, given his controversial history with the show. In 2020, he was dropped from the SNL lineup days before his scheduled performance after videos surfaced of him partying without a mask during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He later apologized and was invited back two months later, even poking fun at the incident in a sketch.
The singer is currently nominated for several 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.
