Elon Musk’s Diablo IV Debacle: Paid Power-Leveling and a Very Public Fail
Tech mogul Elon Musk, known for his business ventures and Twitter antics, recently attempted to conquer a new realm: the virtual world of Diablo IV. However, his quest for leaderboard dominance quickly turned into a comedic saga, sparking widespread mockery online.
Musk boasted of topping the global leaderboards, a feat he later admitted was achieved by paying other players to boost his character. This confession came after skepticism arose amongst the Diablo IV community, questioning the busy executive’s ability to achieve such a high ranking.
The billionaire then attempted to showcase his gaming prowess with a short video of himself “playing.” The clip, featuring erratic head movements, was met with ridicule and disbelief.
“He is very obviously, like very very clearly, not playing here,” one user commented. Another quipped, “Imagine being a middle aged man with more money than God and your top priority is convincing people you are good at video games.”
While some defended Musk, suggesting that hiring help to level up a character is a reasonable use of his resources, given his limited free time, others questioned his motives. Many believe the real issue isn’t Musk’s gaming skills, but his apparent need for validation. “It’s the obsession and constant need for validation that we’re mocking,” one commenter observed.
This incident follows recent revelations from Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, who claimed she and her twin sibling were often enlisted to play Overwatch with their father, carrying him to victory due to his lower rank.
Mr. Musk has been contacted for comment.
