Maumee, OH — A bizarre kidnapping case involving a polyamorous group has left a Maumee community stunned. 28-year-old Martina Jones, her husband, and her four boyfriends are accused of holding a 26-year-old man captive and brutally assaulting him for nearly a week.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly kidnapped on March 14th following a dog fight at Jones’ residence. Jones allegedly blamed the victim for breaking her arm during the incident, prompting her and her partners to retaliate.

Police say the group held the victim at a Red Roof Inn, where he was subjected to horrific abuse. He was reportedly beaten with a metal baseball bat, forced to stand for extended periods, and allowed minimal food and water.

His ordeal finally ended on March 21st when he managed to contact his mother from a nearby convenience store. Alerted by a stranger to her son’s plight, the victim’s mother rushed to the hotel and freed him.

He had suffered multiple broken bones and was severely bruised.

Maumee Police Chief Josh Sprow described the case as “clearly a strange situation,” emphasizing the unusual nature of the polyamorous relationship and the severity of the crime. He commended the victim’s mother for her quick thinking and credited a stranger’s willingness to help with the victim’s rescue.

Jones, her husband Michael Esqueda (28), and boyfriends Aaron Bradshaw (49), Austin Bradshaw (28), David Cessna (26), and Chance Johnston (27) were arrested on March 22nd. All six were indicted by a grand jury on Thursday on charges of kidnapping, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence.

They are currently being held on $200,000 bond each. The case continues to be investigated by the Maumee Police Department.
