Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Solidify UK Move With Montecito Home Sale

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are seemingly settling into their new life across the pond. Despite ongoing disputes with their Cotswolds neighbors, the couple has sold one of their last remaining US properties, signaling a permanent move to the UK.

The sale of their Montecito, California beach bungalow follows a pattern of the couple divesting their impressive US real estate portfolio. Over the years, DeGeneres, 67, and de Rossi, 52, have owned numerous luxury properties across Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Montecito, which they have gradually sold off.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow, located near Butterfly Beach, sold for $5.2 million, exceeding its $4.995 million listing price. The 1,691-square-foot home, originally built in 1954 and remodeled in 2012, boasts a private courtyard and soundproof fencing. DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the property in 2020 for $2.9 million.

The couple’s move to the UK reportedly followed Donald Trump’s election win, with sources indicating their desire to leave the country. DeGeneres’s departure from her daytime talk show after allegations of a toxic work environment may have also contributed to the decision.

Following a period of relative quiet, DeGeneres returned to the spotlight with a Netflix comedy special, “Relatable,” which addressed her career downturn. However, the special was not well-received, and sources suggest DeGeneres may be retreating from public life.
