Talk about a lucky guess! “Wheel of Fortune” contestant Nora stunned herself, the audience, and probably even host Ryan Seacrest when she solved a tricky bonus round puzzle on her very first try.
With her supportive husband cheering her on from the sidelines, Nora selected the “Person” category and was given the standard R, S, T, L, N, and E. After selecting P, C, M, and A, the puzzle board tantalizingly displayed “PRE____S _CC_PANT.”
While many letters were revealed, the solution remained elusive. Plenty of contestants have stumbled on seemingly simple bonus round puzzles, and for a moment, it seemed like history might repeat itself.
But Nora, despite a lack of confidence, took a shot in the dark and guessed “Previous Occupant.”
The crowd erupted as Ryan Seacrest confirmed her answer. Nora’s jaw dropped in disbelief. Her lucky guess netted her a cool $40,000, bringing her total winnings for the episode to an impressive $67,912.
But not every contestant is as fortunate. In a recent episode, contestant Stephen made it to the bonus round, chose the “Phrase” category, and was given the usual starting letters.
After selecting C, M, G, and O, the puzzle read “ON O_R ___.” Seemingly straightforward, right?
Not for Stephen. He offered several incorrect guesses – “On our zip,” “on our pair,” and “on our own” – before time ran out.
The correct answer, “On our way,” and a potential $40,000 bonus prize, slipped through his fingers. A reminder that sometimes, on “Wheel of Fortune,” it’s all just a spin of the wheel and a bit of luck.
