Teen Mom Stars Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra Claim Carly’s Adoptive Parents Profited From Her Appearances
Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra continue to discuss their daughter Carly’s adoption, drawing criticism for allegedly disregarding the wishes of Carly’s adoptive parents, Brandon and Teresa Davis. The Davis family has expressed their desire to keep Carly’s life private.
However, Catelynn and Tyler maintain that the Davises have reneged on the open adoption agreement. They claim the Davises have blocked communication, refused gifts, and further limited their access to Carly.
On a recent episode of their podcast, Cate and Ty: Break It Down, the couple discussed Carly’s adoption with guest Jordy Cray, alleging that Brandon and Teresa profited from Carly’s appearances on 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom. They claim the Davises agreed to have Carly appear on the shows only if they were compensated.
“And they also agreed on the whole thing about, ‘Yeah, MTV, you can show the back of [Carly’s] head, and we’re gonna get compensated for it,’” Tyler stated. Catelynn added, “‘Only if you compensate us.
And if you don’t compensate us, then you’re not allowed to use these pictures on TV.’”
Catelynn and Tyler further accused the Davises of hypocrisy, claiming they exploited the situation while simultaneously criticizing Catelynn and Tyler for sharing information about Carly. They referenced a magazine cover featuring the Davis family and Carly when she was five, in which the Davises reportedly praised open adoption. They also allege Brandon Davis was upset when he wasn’t compensated for photos of Carly that Tyler posted online, claiming Brandon said, “Well, I guess we’re kind of upset about it because now MTV can’t pay us,” because “it’s not an exclusive picture,” Tyler added.
Catelynn also addressed the “irony” and “hypocrisy” of Teen Mom fans sharing photos of Carly after criticizing her for doing the same. This ongoing situation continues to unfold as the Baltierras navigate the complexities of their open adoption agreement.
