Woodland Hills, CA — After a lengthy trial, Monica Sementilli was found guilty on Friday of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the 2017 slaying of her husband, celebrity hair stylist Fabio Sementilli. The verdict brings a measure of closure to a case that has captivated the nation.
Fabio Sementilli, 49, was discovered tragically stabbed to death on the patio of the couple’s Woodland Hills home on January 23, 2017. Prosecutors argued that Monica Sementilli, driven by an affair with Robert Baker, conspired with him to kill her husband for life insurance money. Baker pleaded no contest to all charges in 2023 and is currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Another man, Christopher Austin, was also implicated in the murder. Austin testified that he and Baker carried out the stabbing after Monica Sementilli left the door to the home unlocked. He was convicted of second-degree murder and awaits sentencing next month.
For the Sementilli family, the verdict offers a degree of solace. In previous interviews, family members shared their enduring grief and the ways they keep Fabio’s memory alive.
His son, Luigi, cherishes his father’s Rolex, wearing it on special occasions to feel connected to him. Fabio’s sister, Mirella, finds comfort in celebrating her brother’s legacy.
Monica Sementilli’s sentencing is scheduled for June 23.
